Not all people feel pain immediately after an accident.  Some people are in shock and don't notice that they have been hurt in an auto accident until later.

Common Questions about Auto Injuries:

What do I need to do to be a patient?  There is nothing to special about it call Dr. Petty's office and his front desk will walk you through it.
Do I need an Attorney?  No, most cases don't require an attorney.  If you have one that is okay we accept attorney liens.
How do I file a claim?  There is no need to worry about that because Dr. Petty's staff will take care of it for you and send it directly to your attorney or the insurance company.
How long should I wait until I see a chiropractor after my accident?  Don't wait, typically the longer you wait the more scar tissue forms and the longer it takes to heal from you injuries.  Carolina Chiropractic accepts patients from auto injuries the same day as their accident.
Why should I choose a Chiropractor to treat my injuries from a car accident?  The reason is simple, that is who everyone refers you to because they are the best for the job.  Who refers to the chiropractor for car accidents: Emergency Rooms, Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy, Physical Therapist, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Journals, and many more.
Why is the Chiropractor the right Specialty for auto injuries?  Because Chiropractors treat the systems involved: muscle, skeletal, nervous, and of course your joints.
What is a Whiplash injury?  Whiplash injuries are a sprain/strain of the body, most commonly sprain/strain of the neck.  Whiplash also usually has a component of muscle spasm and inflammation.
What is a Sprain?  A Sprain is an injury to the ligament, which is the soft tissue structure that connects two or more bones together.
What is a Strain?  A strain is an injury to the tendon, which is the soft tissue structure that connects a muscle to a bone.  The easy way to remember it is a strain has a T as does Tendon.
Do I have to go to the Emergency room after a car accident?  Not always, ask the paramedic.  We do suggest going to your primary care physician you don't have to first though.
Why did the Emergency room not do anything for me after my car accident?  Because they are looking for life threatening injuries such as broken bones or hemorrhaging.  They typically at most give you a pain killer, muscle relaxer, and/or anti-inflammatory drugs.  Then they tell you to follow up with your Primary Care Doctor or with a Specialist.  Chiropractors are the specialist they call by name most times.
